It’s been a fun, crazy, great year of blogging so far. I started this blog back in the summer of 2010 as a way to create a presence online. I really did not know what I would talk about or where I wanted it to go. Back then, my blog was called Secret Life of D and it really had no direction.
Then, I found websites like the BlogFrog and the SITS girls community. It was an eye-opener to say the least. All of these smart, friendly, helpful women coming together to improve our blogs and connect online. That’s when I really started forming a direction for my blog, set up an editorial calendar, reached out to other bloggers by commenting on their blogs and started forming friendships. It has been a very rewarding experience so far and I am excited to see where the next year takes Little Green Bow.
I wanted to write this post to encourage you to start connecting with other bloggers that are similar to you through blog communities and forums. You can join challenges like the 31 Days to Build a Better Blog one that I’ve done with the SITS Girls twice. You can start commenting on other blogs and offer value. You can join forums to find advice and offer some of your own. Kludgy Mom even has some great advice for creating your community with some off-line activities.
The choice is yours, but I can tell you that you won’t regret it. I am still amazed that I have been able to form friendships online with some amazing bloggers. Now, I can’t wait until I can go to a blog conference and meet some of my new blog friends in real life.
In the next few weeks I plan to start a link party where you can showcase the awesome things you have been working on. I cannot wait to help promote all of you wonderful women and I hope you will join me by linking up. It’s my next activity toward more connection.
What’s your plan for reaching out to other bloggers? I’d love to hear your suggestions or success stories in the comments!
